Osinbajo set to lead election observers in Sierra Leon
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the recently-departed vice president of Nigeria, will lead a 12-person Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) for the elections in Sierra Leone this Saturday.
According to LEADERSHIP, Osinbajo accepted the Commonwealth's invitation to serve as the group's leader as it was assembled by the organization's Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, to monitor the general elections in Sierra Leone.
His media advisor, Laolu Akande, confirmed Osinbajo's schedule via his Twitter account, stating that the former Vice President will remain in Sierra Leone for the remainder of the month.
Akande wrote: “Immediate past VP Osinbajo heads to Sierra Leone today as Chair of 12-person Commonwealth Observer Group for the country’s elections. He'Il address Press Conf. on Monday & be in the country for the rest of the month. Later, the Osinbajo- COG will report on the election’s credibility.â€
Osinbajo will be assisted in carrying out the work by renowned dignitaries from a variety of sectors, including politicians, legal, media, gender, and election administration specialists from around the Commonwealth, according to the Commonwealth Secretariat.
