Oyo Police arrest alleged killer of NYSC Corps member
The Oyo State Police Command said on Thursday that many officers, including one inspector named Rasheed Saheed, had been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the death of a corper named Damilola Iyanda in the state's Ogbomoso area.
According to The PUNCH, Damilola, a National Youth Service Corps participant, was fatally shot by a police officer in the state's Ogbomoso Local Government Area. In the state capital of Ibadan, the late Damilola was serving.
The deceased man's brother, Oluwafemi Iyanda, who graduated from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, claimed that his late brother had attended his convocation and that same day they had gone to an after-party where the cop who was always on the loose shot him to death.
The officers engaged in the shooting have been held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, according to a statement released by the police command's public relations officer, Adewale Osifeso.
According to a police spokeswoman, the matter would be investigated by the SCID's Homicide Department, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police leading the inquiry, per an order from Commissioner of Police Hamzat Adebola.
