Pastors, bishops present at Shettima's presentation

Journalists assigned to cover the official presentation of former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as running mate to All Progressives Congress Presidential Flag Bearer Asiwaju Bola Tinubu watched in awe as pastors and bishops from various Christian denominations turned up at the venue.

Their presence seemed to draw attention as onlookers and guests alike stared at them as they entered the Musa Yar'Adua Center's reception area, clad in their cassocks and robes, amid tight security at the venue.

Previously, the media had been inundated with reports from religious organizations urging Christian leaders to boycott the revelation to emphasize the point of their grievances.

The Special Assistant for Media and Communications to the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, condemned the APC's Muslim-Muslim ticket a few weeks ago.

He stated: “The Christian Association of Nigeria has made it clear that the current situation in the country is not suitable for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“It is up to Nigerians to accept or reject. Nigeria today is not the same as it was when Nigerians voted for the Abiola-Kingibe ticket, which was eventually cancelled. Our prayers are with Nigeria and Nigerians,

In a similar development, CAN Secretary General Rev. Joseph Bade Daramola also stated that the election of Shettima “as a declaration of war”.

According to PUNCH, CAN President (Youth Wing) Belusochukwu Enwere, while speaking to their correspondent on Tuesday night, said that no member will be there to protest or show any form of solidarity with the party's stance on the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Enwere said the panel is still deliberating and has not yet taken a position.

He said: “Well, we still meet at our level in CAN. Consultations are still ongoing as to what we need to do and what type of candidate we want. Right now we are considering all presidential candidates regardless of their religion. For now, let's just say we're indecisive at the moment," he said.
