PDP 2023 PRIMARIES: " I will face APC directly", Wike professes

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers and PDP presidential candidate said on Saturday that he is the only PDP candidate capable of winning against the ruling APC.

Accompanied by some PDP leaders, Wike remarked while meeting national delegates of the Lagos PDP group in Ikeja.

Wike noted that he would not run for anyone for vice president, said that if elected, priority would be given to peace, security of life and property, the country's sustainable infrastructure, food security, prosperity and economic transformation.

Wike asserted that the nation needs a strong and courageous leader like him now, adding that with a spirited leader, difficult decisions would be made to address the nation's challenges.

“The question now is who can win the election for the PDP. Who can face the APC? Who will win the election for the PDP? That is me, Wike proclaimed.

“I will face APC directly. If you give me this ticket on May 28th and 29th, go home and sleep with your eyes closed," Wike said.

The governor said the PDP must do everything it can to avoid losing the 2023 presidential election.

“If we lose the 2023 presidential election, we might as well forget PDP.

“I have been performance tested. Mine is talk and do," he added.

The contender pleaded with Lagos delegates and leaders to be united and work for his rise in the primaries.

“I know APC very well, allow me to face them. Please allow me, delegates. Help me take the power of APC and bring it back to PDP.

"I depend on the Southwest, if the Southwest gives me the votes, I've won the election. Donate me all your votes," he said.

Noting that he had been with the PDP since 1998, Wike said: "I will never leave this party. Whatever I am today, by the grace of God, God used PDP for me. However, he stated that he would never leave PDP even if he didn't win the primaries and promised to support the winner.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, former Gombe governor who led Wike's delegation, described the presidential aspirant as a courageous leader with a strong ability to push Nigeria forward.
