PDP NEC passes vote of confidence: Ayu remains national chairman
Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has received a vote of confidence from the party's national executive council, indicating that he will not be stepping down anytime soon.
Ayu should resign from his position as the PDP chairman, according to several party members.
The PDP further expressed its trust in Ayu at the National Executive Council Meeting held today in Abuja.
According to The PUNCH, a total of 397 members of the NEC, including previous national chairs of the party, the nation's most recent vice president, Namadi Sambo, and the PDP's presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar, were granted access to the meeting.
Ayu was re-elected as the party's chairman by a unanimous majority of the 397 NEC members present at the meeting.
The House Minority Leader moved a resolution for committee members to continue having him as the head of the party, thus the acting board chairman and former Senate president Adolphus Wabara put it to a voice vote.
