Peter Umeadi appoints a vice-presidential candidate

All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) presidential candidate Prof. Peter Umeadi has chosen his vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 general election. Umeadi, a former chief justice of Anambra state, said in a publication by his campaign organization on Sunday, provided to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra state, that his running mate was Abdullahi Muhammed Koli.

The publication described Koli as a frontline labour activist and social crusader who, in his capacity as Chairman of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) in Bauchi State from 1999 to 2002, had waged many struggles for the well-being of Nigerian workers. The statement read in part: “Before June 17, the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for submitting party candidates to the INEC online portal, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) presidential candidate in the 2023 General Election, Prof . Peter Umeadi appointed Comrade Abdullahi Muhammed Koli as his running mate.” Umeadi, a law professor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (Enugu campus), had pledged during his nomination last week to use his background as a legal practitioner to reposition the country where the rule of law would prevail, pointing out that Nigerians deserve a  better country.

He said: “I come forward with the triple banner of the rule of law, separation of powers and due process. We are entitled to a country better run than it is now.”
