Police arrest 13 over Ekiti rulers' killing, abduction of pupils

According to the Nigeria Police Force, 13 individuals have been detained in relation to the murders of two monarchs in Ekiti State.

ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, announced on Thursday that steps had also been made to resolve the state's security issue.

Two Ekiti monarchs, Oba Olatunde Olusola of Imojo and Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin of Esun Ekiti, were slain by gunmen on Monday, while Oba Adebayo Fatoba, the Alara of Ara Ekiti, just about escaped.

The kidnappers, who were operating on the route between Ipao and Oke Ako in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, ambushed the traditional rulers while they were returning from a security conference in Kogi State.

Three instructors, the bus driver, and five students from the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools were abducted by kidnappers who assaulted a school bus in the same vicinity.

The FPRO claims that Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun vehemently denounced in a statement the assassination of the traditional rulers and the kidnapping of students and instructors in Ekiti.

Thus, he declared that an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abiodun Asabi, had been sent to Zone 17, Akure, Ondo State, to deal with the security issues.
