Police arrest 30-year-old armed robbery suspect in Lagos
A 30-year-old guy was detained by members of the Police's Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in connection with an alleged armed robbery in the Ketu neighbourhood of Lagos.
This is said in a message published on its official Twitter account on Thursday that was seen by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The culprit, a resident of 21, Taiwo Street, off China Town Ogudu, was reportedly apprehended on Wednesday while attacking his victims, according to the RRS.
According to the report, the suspect's two friends fled when they saw the cops.
“At 11: 45 p.m. yesterday, Wasiu Ajepe, wielding a machete, in the company of two armed others (now at large) was arrested by RRS patrol team while robbing the driver and motor boy of a broken down PMS laden tanker after Ojota Bridge, Ketu inward Bergerâ€, the statement said.
The suspect, according to the RRS, is the head of a gang that prowls China Town, MKO Garden, the Ojota Bridge, and the highways at dawn and at night.
The two gang members who are on the run are being sought after, according to the report.
