Police arrest Anambra woman for physically assaulting eight-year-old house help
The Anambra State Police Command, working with representatives of the State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, has detained Mrs. Chinyere Ifesinachi, a 25-year-old mother of three, for seriously injuring her housekeeper, Idimmachukwu, at Nkpor in the state's Idemili North local government area.
The girl was accused of violating the law after the youngster she was carrying fell to the ground while struggling.
In order to protect the girl from harm while she is receiving medical attention in a hospital, the police also retrieved the person who is currently in their custody.
The arrest of the woman, who is from Alor in the Idemili South local government area, came after a public outcry and a viral video showing Idimmachikwu with various degrees of injuries inflicted on her Mrs. Ifesinachi, according to the state police public relations officer, PPRO Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga.
Ikenga claims that the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID has been given the case in order to conduct a thorough investigation at the state commissioner of police's request, Echeng Echeng.
Ikenga said: “The CP frowned at such inhuman treatment subjected to some housemaids by their guardians and assured that the command will continue to do everything within its power to protect the vulnerable from such treatment.â€
Justice will undoubtedly be served, according to the PPRO, who stated that the case will be brought before a judge after the inquiry is complete.
According to what was learned, the girl's neighbours observed her in a pitiful state as she travelled to dispose of trash and contacted social welfare officials, who then called the police.
