Police arrest armed robbers, cultists terrorising Rivers communities
A bunch of armed robbers and cultists who have been terrorising communities in the Khana Local Government Area of the state, including breaking into army personnel's homes, have been apprehended, according to the Rivers State Police Command.
In a statement, Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command Public Relations Officer, said that the police swiftly detained five suspects after receiving intelligence information about the gang's activities in the communities of Gbam-Boue, Kono-Boue, and other nearby communities.
Five pieces of military camouflage uniform, one pair of camouflage shoes, one military cap, a small bag containing electrical tools, one live AK 47 7.6mm ammunition, one live cartridge, one solar panel, and some electrical wires suspected of having been stolen from one Gift Nuep, an indigenous of the Uegwere Boue community and a serving military officer attached to Borno State, are among the items recovered from the gang after searching their houses, according to Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko.
According to the command spokeswoman, people in the impacted areas are celebrating the capture of the criminals who had been terrorising them for more than two years.
According to her, the suspects are being held while the investigation is being conducted.
