Police arrest couple trying to sell two-year-old son
A couple, whose name is concealed, was apprehended by agents of the Lagos State Police Command while trying to sell their two-year-old kid in order to get to Canada.
This was verified on Thursday in Lagos by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, for the News Agency of Nigeria.
According to Hundeyin, the couple, who are 28 and 22 years old, was caught on Tuesday while attempting to sell their child.
He said that the Isolo Divisional Police Officer was informed at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday that the couple had visited Isolo General Hospital and declared their plan to sell their infant son.
“Upon receipt of the information, operatives from the station moved swiftly to the hospital where they were about to sell their child.
“The baby’s age is two and he has been rescued. Upon interrogation, the couple confessed that they decided to sell the baby to enable the man to travel to Canada for a greener pasture.
“However, the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
