Police arrest daughter for maltreating mother in Anambra
Ukamaka Udeugbo, who was shown in a viral video abusing her elderly mother, was detained by the police in Anambra State.
According to Channels Television, the 50-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Saturday, July 15 in the state's Umudunu village in Abagana's Njikoka Local Government Area.
As the elderly woman lay on the floor, Ukamaka was seen continuously beating and dumping buckets of water on her.
In a statement released on Sunday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, stated that the suspect had flogged and kicked the woman's 75-year-old mother.
“The suspect who flogged the naked aged woman repeatedly and threw buckets of water on her while lying on the floor has been arrested and detained for prosecution,†the statement read.
The PPRO added that the CP had approved the elderly woman's transfer to the Anambra State government's Commissioner for Women Affairs for appropriate treatment.
At the conclusion of the inquiry, he stated, the suspect would be arraigned in court.
