Police arrest fake medical doctor in Cross River
Collins Orji, a phoney medical practitioner, founded and operated a medical facility in Ngarabe, Ekureku, Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State.
The police have arrested Orji and placed him in Obubra prison, per the directive of an Itigidi magistrate's court that is still located in Abi LGA.
Findings revealed that Orji operated Excellent Hospital, Ngarabe, Ekureku until the Cross River State Task Force on Health Quality and Anti Quackery visited his facility on July 11, 2024. Vanguard learned that Orji has been operating a hospital without a licence for both himself and the facility.
Additionally, information was obtained indicating that Orji had previously run a medical institution in Ugep under the name St. Collins Hospital, in Ibogo, Biase LGA, under the name Common Wealth Clinic, and currently in Abi LGA under the name Excellent Hospital, Ngarabe Ekureku.
Dr. Dan Abubakar, the head of the Cross River State Task Force on Health Quality and Anti Quackery, claims that upon meeting Orji with a group of police officers, they learned he was not a licenced physician and lacked any medical education.
