Police arrest five for stealing 18 cows in Ogun
The Great Fold Acres Farm, which is situated in Ori-Okuta Village, Kajola, along Owode Egba in the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state, is purportedly the source of 18 cow thefts.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, at least five people have been detained for this crime.
The accused, who include Ojo Akintunde, Adamu Abubakar, Udu Saliu, Shehu Sakariyau, and Aliu Muhammad, were taken into custody on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The suspects had broken into the ranch and taken the cattle.
Our correspondent discovered that the ranch manager, Emmanuel Mosaku, reported to the police that he had suspicions about the five ranch employees following the news of the break-in and missing animals.
Akintunde, Adamu, Saliu, Sakariyau, and Muhammad loaded the animals onto a truck while looking for the cattle along the motorway. According to PUNCH Metro, the search team also found nine additional calves in a jungle, all of them had ropes securely fastened around their necks.
“The suspects were employees at the farm when 18 cows suddenly disappeared from the cattle ranch. The manager suspected the five workers of the incident.
“The suspects were caught while loading the stolen cattle onto a truck. The rest of the cattle were found in a bush,” Odutola stated.
