Police arrest four suspects for robbery in Ogun
A month after they conducted an operation in the state, Ogun State Police Command agents detained four alleged robbers.
The suspects, Opeyemi Adebayo (26), Sherrif Kamoru (28), Rabiu Seyidu (37), and Ajibola Fakolade (21), were part of a robbery gang that terrorized Sango-Ota and its surrounding areas in the state.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state's police public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Monday.
He claimed that the suspects were apprehended as a result of a complaint made by one Adeleye Sunday, on March 20, 2023, and submitted to the Sango divisional headquarters.
According to the PPRO, the victim claimed that at around 5:30 am, in the Joju neighbourhood of Sango-Ota, some armed criminals attacked him.
Oyeyemi said, “He stated further that the hoodlums dispossessed him of his two phones after inflicting a matchet cut on his neck.
“Having taken away his phones, the hoodlums syphoned the sum of N600,000 from his account through the bank’s app on the phone.
“Upon the report, the DPO Sango-Ota division, CSP Saleh Dahiru, detailed his detectives to technically trace the suspects and bring them to justice.
“The detectives swung into action, and acting on credible intelligence, the hideout of the suspects was located and four of them were apprehended.
One cutlass, one techno POP 2f belonging to the victim, and a nose mask used by one of the suspects during the operation were all items found on the accused.
However, Oyeyemi claimed that CP Olanrewaju Oladimeji, the police commissioner, had ordered that the suspects be given to State Criminal Investigation Departments for covert investigation and thorough prosecution.
