Ogun State Police Command personnel have detained two alleged robbers from Lagos after they terrorized the citizens of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.

The residents of Ijebu-Ode and its surroundings have reportedly been terrorized recently by the suspected robbers.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state's police public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspects, Muyiwa Adebola and Lukman Ogunmuyiwa, were detained on March 26, 2023, in response to a distress call that was received at the Igbeba divisional headquarters in Ijebu Ode.

He said, “The robbers dispossessed residents of their belongings ranging from laptops, 32 different phones, and a GLK Mercedes Benz car with registration number KRD 570 HM at gunpoint.

“One Ayoola Taiwo was also shot and wounded in his right knee by the robbers.

“Upon the report, the DPO Igbeba division, CSP Musiliu Doga, led his men to the scene but the robbers took to flight on sighting the policemen.

“They were hotly chased and one of them, Muyiwa Adebola, was arrested at the Olisa area of Ijebu-Ode and one of the robbed phones was recovered from him.

“On interrogation, he informed the police that the gang members were based in Lagos State, and he subsequently led detectives to the Mushin area of Lagos where the second one, Lukman Ogunmuyiwa, who also confessed his participation in the robbery was apprehended.

“Recovered so far from the two suspects are three HP laptops and three phones belonging to the victims.”

But, according to the PPRO, the suspects were sent to state criminal investigative departments on the directive of Frank Mba, the outgoing commissioner of police and current head of AIG, for a covert probe.
