Police arrest notorious car snatcher in Port Harcourt
A 27-year-old man named Meshark Monday was taken into custody by agents of the Rivers State Police Command. Meshark is said to have expertise in auto theft.
Monday was captured by Olu Obasanjo Division Crack Operatives on Olu Obasanjo Road after they saw him making some suspicious movements while trying to flee towards the G.R.A. intersection.
In a statement on Sunday, the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the suspect was successfully captured following a vigorous pursuit.
Iringe, SPMonday, a security guard at a mobile company, confessed to the crime, according to Koko, who said that he gave in to temptation and took a customer's car that was parked for maintenance in an attempt to better his life.
According to the police statement, an investigation is still underway to identify Monday's accomplices even though the matter has been brought before the court.
In order to stop these kinds of occurrences from happening after hours, Olatunji Disu, the Commissioner of Police, reportedly asked people to install security cameras and alarms.
