Police arrest one of two wanted notorious kidnappers in FCT
Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, was apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, had placed a ₦20 million bounty on the head of one of the two wanted, infamous kidnappers.
In a statement released on Friday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the kidnapper was apprehended at around midnight on Thursday after a raid on certain bandits' camps that bordered Abuja and Nasarawa via the Kuje local council.
She reported that when the robbers spotted the agents, they started shooting at the cops and got into a gunfight, but they were ultimately defeated.
She also mentioned the unharmed rescue of Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who had been kidnapped in the Kuje Area Council.
Adeh said, “The police operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to the Anti-kidnapping Unit, in a continued effort against criminality in the territory, raided two kidnappers’ camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje Area Council on February 15, 2024, at about 12am, dislodged the camps and arrested one Saidu Abdulkadir, male, popularly known as Dahiru Adamu, who is the gang leader and one of the wanted suspects of the kidnapping syndicate paraded by the police vommand on February 14, 2024.
“The bandits, on sighting the police operatives, opened fire and engaged the police in an intense gun duel and were eventually overpowered by the police, as one Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, earlier abducted from Kwaita village via Pegi District of Kuje Area Council, were rescued unhurt and the suspect arrested.â€
She continued by saying that initial inquiries had shown the suspects planned the abduction and murder of a Mr. Sunday Zakwai, the Ketti village district head.
Adeh added, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect masterminded the kidnap and killing of one Mr Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti village.
“While efforts are still ongoing to apprehend the other wanted suspects on the run, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, wishes to reassure criminals in FCT that there is no hiding place for them.â€
