Mr. Monday Chukwu, a 34-year-old resident of Akintola village in the Odigbo region of the state, has been paraded by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly fatally stabbing his friend Kefa Ofando.

Chukwu was one of the twelve people detained on suspicion of offences ranging from arson to robbery to murder. Mr. Abayomi Oladipo, the Commissioner of Police, presented the suspects to the media at the Ondo State Police Command Headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

According to the CP, investigations showed that the late Ofando, 30, had lent the suspect two thousand Naira.

When the suspect sought the money back a few days later, the two got into a fight during which the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck with scissors, causing the victim to pass away. Precious Kolawole, a 16-year-old secondary school student, is also one of the 12 suspects.

She is suspected of being involved in the murder of Mrs. Adeniyi Iyabode, a well-known Akure caterer, at her home on Oda Road. Oladipo stated that prior investigations had resulted in the apprehension of Precious' accomplice, a 17-year-old named Philip Emmanuel, who disclosed their respective levels of involvement in the heinous deed in a voluntary statement.

“The first Suspect, Precious Kolawole, claimed to have heard Mrs. Adeniyi talking about receiving a substantial amount of money through her bank account and, on the heels of this, recruited Philip Emmanuel, the second suspect, to jointly murder the victim gruesomely,” the CP said.

“Clinical investigation revealed knife wounds inflicted by Philip Emmanuel and machete cuts by Precious Kolawole, resulting in the death of the victim. It was also gathered that the victim successfully withdrew the sum of thirty thousand Naira from her account via her ATM card.”

Additionally displayed were four members of a group that specialises in brain-box theft from automobiles in Ondo State. The suspects admitted to the crime and claimed that it only took them five minutes to remove the brain box from the car.
