Police arrest Reverend Sister, rescue two abducted children in Anambra
In Amaba Ime, Ikwuano LGA, Abia State, a biker kidnapped two of the three children belonging to the same parents. The children were rescued and returned to their parents. Security personnel came to their aid in the Anambra State communities of Ekwulobia and Nkpor.
When Promise Uzoma Okoro led the members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria's Abia State chapter, they were greeted by Mr. Osinachi Nwaka, the Chairman of the Ikwuano Local Government, who verified the two children's rescue.
A Reverend Sister who is a part of a child trafficking ring has been arrested in connection with the case, according to the local government chairman, who also revealed that the Reverend Sister is being held by the police.
He said he had a restless night after the three kids vanished and that's what made him set up a number of meetings with different security agency branches.
The chairman of the Ikwuano Local Government Area expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, and other state security agency leaders for their efforts in rescuing the children. He also promised that the last child will be located shortly.
In order to identify the leaders of the illegal trade and bring them to justice for a safer Abia, the mayor asked for the help of OMPAN members and the general public.
“There are syndicates in every local government that trade on children. It amazes me that a man that bought one of the first boys paid N1.8m to buy life.
“A Reverend Sister is the middle person that distributes the children and collects her cut, she’s wearing white and still in state CID till today,” Nwama said.
