Police arrest robbery suspect, recover ammunition
Theophilus Timothy, a suspected armed robber, has been taken into custody by the Lagos Police Command in the state's Orile region. Patrol officers from the Orile Division on Saturday, the police confirmed this arrest via its X handle on Sunday.
The statement claims that the suspect was caught at Coker Express around 11:30 p.m. as he and a companion were escaping on a motorbike registered LUY 81 QM.
The defendant was allegedly found to have two live cartridges and a handgun manufactured locally by the officers.
The statement read, “Patrol officers of Orile Division on September 23, 2024, at about 11:30 pm, intercepted two men on a motorcycle who sped off upon seeing the officers at Coker Express. Following a pursuit, the rider, Theophilus Timothy, was arrested while the other suspect escaped.
“Recovered from the arrested suspect are a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and the motorcycle with registration number LUY 81 QM.”
The order urged citizens to report any suspicious activity in the state to the closest police station, even though it said that an investigation was still underway.
