Police arrest suspected land grabbers in Lagos
Two suspected land grabbers have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for attempting to attack homeowners at Wood Island Estate in the Ishawo neighbourhood of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
According to Punch Metro, approximately 100 houses were destroyed when the thugs broke into the estate last year.
On Thursday, the thugs made another attempt, but were thwarted by the estate's property owners, who then led to their arrest with recovered weapons.
“Angry house owners and other people have mobilised themselves to prevent another takeover of the area by land speculators, who demolished more than 100 houses.
“One of them identified as Rasak Segun was arrested with a white pistol while trying to escape through a neighbouring estate by vigilante members. He was taken to Owutu Police Station,” the source narrated.
According to the police source, the suspect further admitted to Isawo community residents that he was mobilised from Ajah.
Three pump-action guns that were hidden in a Toyota Corolla were allegedly found in the possession of another individual who was apprehended in the neighbourhood.
