Police arrest two suspected robbers in Lagos, recover weapons

In the Agbado neighbourhood of Lagos State, two unidentified suspected robbers have been taken into custody at a hotel located along AIT Road. 

According to information obtained by PUNCH Online, the event happened on Monday at approximately three o'clock in the afternoon. Our correspondent was informed by a police source from the division—who spoke under anonymity because he was not permitted to discuss the matter—that the suspects were taken into custody after a distress call about the hotel robbery event. 

Four locally manufactured firearms, a Toyota Corolla sedan, a Toyota Camry sedan, five live cartridge ammo, four expanded, and other weapons were found during the arrest.

“Today, April 15, at about 0030 hours, while officers of Agbado Division were on residential patrol, as earlier directed by the area commander, a distress call was received that there was an ongoing robbery incident at a hotel along AIT Road.

“The DPO immediately led the patrol team to the scene to engage them. Subsequently, two of the robbers were arrested, and the following items were recovered from them: four locally made guns, one Toyota Corolla saloon car, one Toyota Camry saloon car, five live cartridge ammunitions, four expanded cartridge ammunition, two Nokia phones, one HTC phone, one Jackknife, six ATM cards, three wrist watches, three female handbags, and a sum of N54,000,” he said.

The source further stated that two lodgers had been shot by the group of armed robbers prior to the arrival of the police, as per the preliminary inquiry. The group consisted of nine members.
