Police burst criminal hideout in Anambra, rescue kidnapped victims
A kidnap victim in the state's Ihiala region has been freed thanks to the efforts of the Security Joint Task Force (JTF) and the Police Command in Anambra. In a statement on Tuesday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command's public relations officer, confirmed the rescue.
According to Ikenga, the victim was saved when police broke up a criminal den in Umuduru, in the state's Ihiala Local Government Area.
He said that the accomplishment came about as a result of the arrest of a suspect—name withheld—a few weeks prior. Ikenga reported that the detained suspect had admitted to being a part of a well-known kidnapping ring that terrorised the state's Ihiala region.
He continued by saying that although operations were still ongoing, the rescued victim, a guy in his mid-30s, had been released to his family after being debriefed. Ikenga reported that the Anambra Vigilance Group (AVG), police, and military men were all involved in the current operation in Ihiala.
