Police burst fake sachet water factory in Lagos

In the Oluwole Market neighbourhood of Lagos, the Lagos State Police Command has discovered a phoney sachet water manufacturing plant that is using a different brand name that has been registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

While verifying the suspect's detention, the Command's spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, shared this on his verified X profile (previously Twitter).

Hundeyin praised the Lagosians for protecting their health and for giving the police the information that led to the operation.

He posted, “Thank you, Lagosians, for giving us information and safeguarding the health of others.

“These suspects fraudulently used the brand name and NAFDAC number of another sachet water producing company to produce their sachet water inside Oluwole Market, Apapa.”

In the meantime, a suspected member of the water factory's staff is shown in a video that is connected to the post showing police officers the made water sachets that are kept in the facility, along with a refrigerator.

He then went ahead and ran the machine that was being used to make the water sachets illegally. On July 9, however, Hundeyin stated, a suspect was taken into custody during a raid on the sachet water factory.

The suspect is in police custody and assisting with enquiries, according to the police image maker. The facility's owner, he said, is still at large despite ongoing efforts to bring him to justice.
