Police confirm freedom of kidnapped 8 MRS oil workers in Lagos
Eight MRS Oil Nigeria plc employees who were kidnapped while riding on a private boat in Lagos around a week ago have been verified by the police to be free.
On a private boat travelling from Lagos Island to Lekki on Monday at around 6 o'clock, they were kidnapped.
The eight oil employees were reportedly released on Sunday night in the Lagos State neighbourhood of Sangotedo, according to a story in The Nation newspaper.
The oil employees who were abducted by the kidnappers who took their personal things also stated that they had been freed.
The release of the MRS oil workers was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos Police.
He would not, however, confirm whether any of the oil employees' kidnappers had been apprehended.
Last Monday at a jetty on the Island, the oil workers went missing from a boat they boarded on their way home.
The boat was eventually discovered near Ikorodu, a neighbourhood of Lagos State, supporting the theory that they had been kidnapped.
Later on, it was discovered that the MRS oil employees had been abducted on Lagos State's Tin Can Waterways by masked gunmen.
The victims boarded a boat at a jetty on the Island, SP Hundeyin said while confirming the kidnapping of the workers.
“They had not been seen since then, meanwhile, the boat was found around Ikorodu and manhunt has been launched for the suspected gunmen.â€
