Police nab wanted cult leader in Ogun
Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old accused cultist, was taken into custody by Ogun State Police Command agents in Oja Oda, Yewa-North Local Government Area. Akojede was taken into custody on Friday at around 2:30 pm.
The leader of the cult known as Alora, the suspect, has been on the command's watch list for some time, according to the statement released on Friday by Omolola Odutola, the spokeswoman for the command, who confirmed the arrest.
Odutola announced that the state Criminal inquiry Department will conduct a covert inquiry into Akojede, who is well-known for frightening and inciting panic in the community.
She said, “The DPO Oja Odan has apprehended an Alora confraternity No 1. One Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old who has terrorised Oja Odan was picked up at about 1430hrs today and will be transferred to SCID, for discreet investigation.
“He has been causing panic and has been on the watch list.
Odutola advised other cult members to turn a new leaf and make changes for the benefit of society and reaffirmed the command's commitment to eliminating cultism from the state.
“They should take a leaf from this person who has been apprehended, to accept the amnesty program and be better sons to their families.”
