Police rescue nine abducted PDP electoral officials in Edo
Nine Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members who were purportedly abducted in Edo State have been freed by the police.
The Jattu Police Division of the Edo State Police Command conducted the rescue operation, according to SP Chidi Nwabizor, the spokesperson for the command, who verified the victims of the kidnapping's rescue on Tuesday.
According to information obtained, the victims were abducted on Saturday in the Jattu neighbourhood of Etsako West local government area of Edo State. The victims were electoral officials (EOs) for the PDP ad hoc delegate elections.
The victims were reportedly abducted at gunpoint while travelling to Ekperi, the Etsako Central local government area of the state, to oversee the party congress.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the Divisional Police Office in Jattu dispatched officers for a jungle search and rescue operation as soon as they received the information.
SP Nwabizor said, “the Police have rescued them. The DPO of Jattu confirmed that the victims have been successfully rescued.â€
