Police rescue pregnant 19-year-old girl from committing suicide

Police officers from the Ikorodu Area Command in Lagos saved a pregnant 19-year-old girl who was about to take her own life.

Reportedly eight months along, the girl called one of her best friends, complaining that she was tired of life after the boy who had impregnated her had left her.

Even worse, she allegedly said that the woman she worked for as a Point of Sale (POS) operator in the Ikorodu region was threatening to put her under arrest after she had been conned out of N100,000 by a customer.

It was discovered that after receiving exclusive information about the defenceless girl's threats to end her life, Mr. Musendique Orobiyi, the Area Commander in Ikorodu, acted quickly and assigned a group of female investigators to find the girl and save her life.

Subsequently, the investigators located her in Iyana-Iyesi, Ogun State, where she was about to consume a bottle of sniper that she had previously purchased.

After saving her, they brought her to Ikorodu Area Command, where they provided her with all the support she needed, including food and clothing changes, before delivering her to the gender unit at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja.

The victim (name withheld) lamented that life has been unfair to her.

According to her, “My trouble started after I got pregnant for my boyfriend, who subsequently denied the pregnancy and later moved out of where he lived around Oshodi.

“When we were dating, he said he loved me and that he wanted to marry me, but immediately I got pregnant and informed him, he denied me.  As if that was not enough trouble for me, I was duped of N100,000, where I worked as a POS attendant. Someone used a fake alert to defraud me.
