Policeman Buhari honored for refusing $200,000 bribe converts to Islam
Daniel Amah, the famous Assistant Commissioner of Police who turned down a $200,000 bribe, accepted Islam at a ceremony in the palace of Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano.
Amah was formally accepted into the faith at the private ceremony on Tuesday. He changed his name to Muhammad.
The Emir encouraged Amah to learn about Islam and to follow the five pillars of Islam: faith in Allah, the five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, the trip to Mecca, and zakat (charitable giving), while speaking in Hausa.
In order for Amah to become one of the greatest Muslims in the world, the Emir appealed to Allah for guidance.
In addition, he cautioned him to maintain his moral character and to show his parents respect and obedience regardless of their religious views.
Amah earlier became well-known as the Divisional Police Officer in Kano State's Nasarawa Local Government Area after he turned down a $200,000 bribe from suspects in an armed robbery in April 2022. Over N300 million was taken by the suspects during a heist.
Ali Zaki, the main suspect, had conspired with the bandits to track down and rob a Bureau De Change employee who had $750,000 in cash.
