President Akufo Addo denies asking Tinubu to give Peter Obi a chance
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was allegedly advised by Ghana's president, Nana Akufo-Addo, to support Peter Obi of the Labour Party. This advice was allegedly given in a Facebook post.
Akufo-Addo characterized the information as untrue and malicious in a tweet he published on Tuesday.
The president of Ghana stated categorically that he would never meddle in Nigerian affairs.
"My attention has been directed to a worrisome social media post where it is claimed that I wrote to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC's 2023 presidential contender, advising him to "give Peter Obi a chance and get treatment for his health.
“This is completely false and mischievous, with no iota of truth whatsoever in it,†Akufo-Addo wrote.
Ghana and Nigeria "boast of decades of warm, strong, and fraternal connections," he continued, adding that he "is not going to be the one to engage in the internal issues and politics of Nigeria."
