President Buhari congratulates Hilda Abaci for breaking world record for longest cooking time
President Muhammadu Buhari has joined in on the joyous celebrations as 27-year-old gourmet chef Hilda Bassey Effiong, aka Hilda Baci, breaks the world record for the longest hours of cooking, enters the Guinness Book of Records, and brings Nigeria to the attention of the world.
The president’s felicitation was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina.
President Buhari praised the young chef for transforming her ability and enthusiasm into a job, which had a positive ripple impact on the economy. She currently leads the world in resiliency, perseverance, and consistency in the kitchen and manages a restaurant in Lagos.
The president claimed that the restauranteur's ancestors resolved a long-running dispute with Ghana over which African nation should own the trademark for better jollof rice cooking by impressing at the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021 and cooking delectable dishes that won the choice prize.
In an effort to inspire more young people to follow in Hilda Baci's footsteps, President Buhari stated that he thinks Hilda Baci's drive and ambition have increased interest in and understanding of the distinctiveness of Nigerian gastronomy as another cultural icon with significant tourism benefits.
The chef's supporters, government officials, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, celebrities from the burgeoning entertainment industry, and the sponsors of the Hilda Baci Cook-a-thon are all thanked by the president for their contributions, which have elevated the nation.
