President Buhari grants 65 ex-corp members automatic employment
65 former National Youth Service Corps members received automatic employment in the Federal Civil Service on Thursday in Abuja, thanks to President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.). Buhari gave them scholarships to continue their studies up to the Doctorate Degree level at any university of their choice in the nation in addition to employment.
Additionally, he revealed that the top award winners would each receive a monetary prize of N250,000, and the other award recipients—including the physically challenged ex-Corps members—would receive N200,000 as part of the NYSC Hope Alive Programme
In order to assure adherence to the employment offer and the awarding of scholarships, the President issued a directive to the Head of the Federal Civil Service, the Federal Civil Service Commission, and the Minister of Education.
Femi Adesina, President Buhari's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, revealed the news in a statement he published late on Thursday under the heading "President Buhari grants 65 ex-corps members automatic employment, lists NYSC accomplishments at 50."Â
Speaking at the State House Conference Centre for the NYSC 50th Anniversary Honours Award, the President noted that, of the 65 recipients, 52 received Presidential Honours Awards and the remaining 13 were former Corps Members with physical disabilities who had been recognised through the NYSC Hope Alive programme.
