PTDF shortlists 5000 Nigerians for foreign scholarships
Over 5,000 applications from throughout the country have been shortlisted, according to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, for scholarships under its foreign study program for the academic year 2023–2024.
This information was disclosed on Monday at a selective interview process for the shortlisted candidates for MSc and PhD postgraduate programs by Mrs. Bolanle Kehinde-Agboola, Head of, Oversees Scholarship Scheme at the PTDF.
She claimed that the selection process, which began on February 13, 2023, with advertisements in some national media calling qualified Nigerians to apply, was continuing with the selection interview.
“What is happening here today is the interview for the award of scholarship to Nigerians for the 2023/2024 academic session.
“We have shortlisted over 5,000 applicants to partake in the exercise which is going on in the six geo-political zones.
“The first criteria is that you must be a Nigerian. For the master’s programme, the applicant must be a student of any of the oil and gas fields like engineering, geology, computer sciences, environmental sciences and management.
“You must have a minimum of second-class upper in any of these fields for you to be qualified,’’ she said.
Kehinde-Agboola added that the agency would open the application windows for candidates to submit their applications at the end of the year.
Indicating that the main goal of the program was to train people who would introduce innovation to the sector, she continued by stating that PTDF was an organization with the capacity to improve and expand the oil and gas sector.
She continued by saying that another goal of the exercise was to provide the applicants with the abilities they would need to work successfully in the field.
