Queen Elizabeth: Osinbajo leaves for the UK
At a variety of ceremonies on Sunday and Monday during the State burial for the late Queen Elizabeth ll of the United Kingdom, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will represent Nigeria.
Osinbajo left Abuja on Saturday and will attend the events, including the funeral service that will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, among members of the Royal Family, world leaders, Commonwealth leaders, Heads of State, Governors-General, and Prime Ministers.
Laolu Akande, Osinbajo's spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.
Osinbajo will be among the visitors and dignitaries that King Charles llI and Queen Consort Camilla will greet on Sunday at a reception in Buckingham Palace before the service.
Osinbajo would meet privately with James Cleverly, the UK's foreign secretary, earlier on that day.
After Monday's State Funeral, Osinbajo will depart for his native Nigeria.
Recall that Queen Elizabeth II served as the longest-reigning British monarch and as the Head of the Commonwealth.
She passed away at the age of 96 on September 8th at Scotland's Balmoral Castle.
