Ramadan: Jigawa govt announces reduction in working hours for civil servants
To facilitate their engagement throughout Ramadan, the Jigawa State government has approved a decrease in the official working hours for the state's governmental officials.
Alhaji Muhammad Kandira Dagaceri, the state Head of Service (HoS), made the news in a statement. The announcement claims that the reduction is effective immediately.
On Mondays through Thursdays, the state's civil servants will henceforth report to work at 9:00 am and close at 3:00 pm; on Fridays, they will report to work at 9:00 am and close at 1:00 am.
According to the HoS, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, offered this gesture with the intention of giving government personnel more chances to be ready for the Ramadan break and to participate more fully in the religious events that are connected to this holy month.
“It is hoped that civil servants in the state will use the Ramadan period to pray for God’s guidance and blessings for our state,” the statement revealed.
The statement further emphasised how important it is for civil servants to use the fasting season to pray for the general peace and economic growth of the state and Nigeria.
