Report says third convoy has entered Gaza from Egypt
According to The Nation, a third humanitarian convoy has arrived in Gaza from Egypt.
Since Hamas struck Israel on October 7, 2023, killing more than 3,000 people and kidnapping more than 200, Gaza has been under blockade.
More trucks have recently entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing, according to reports from the news agencies Reuters and AFP.
This comes after a convoy of 20 trucks on Saturday and a convoy of about 14 trucks on Sunday.
Although it had not yet been determined how many convoys had arrived on Monday.
The first two aid convoys have arrived in Gaza, and the International Committee of the Red Cross has welcomed them, but it notes that this is only a "drop" in comparison to what the people in Gaza need.
Imene Trabelsi, a charity spokesman, stated in an interview with BBC Breakfast that there needs to be a continuous and sustainable plan to provide supplies and emphasised that the vast majority of people in Gaza were dependent on aid even before the most recent conflict even broke out.
Trabelsi says that because shelters are already full, families who have been evicted from their houses are sleeping on the streets without basic necessities like blankets.
“It’s not an exaggeration to say it’s catastrophic in Gaza.†Last week, an IDF spokesman suggested to the BBC there was no humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
