Rivers govt announces seven-day public holiday
The government of Niger State has proclaimed a seven-day public holiday for state employees.
The statement was made by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in the state capital of Minna during the annual cake-cutting ceremony with every member of the State Executive Council.
The governor clarified that the purpose of the public holiday was to allow government employees to observe Christmas and New Year's festivities.
He states that the holiday will start on "Friday, December 22, 2023, and end on Monday, January 1, 2024."
He revealed that food will be provided to government employees so they can distribute it to the underprivileged in their wards and local government areas.
