Rivers police arrest 13 officers for dressing indecently
According to the Rivers State Police Command, 13 of its officers were taken into custody at various Port Harcourt locations for wearing indecent clothing.
Additionally, the command guaranteed that the assassins of SP Bako Angbasim, a former Divisional Police Officer of the Ahoada East Local Government Area, would be apprehended and prosecuted.
Over the weekend, the Force Public Relations Department hosted a live programme in which State Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu gave a speech.
Disu said that the police officers were being held after being apprehended by the command's monitoring unit while on patrol.
He said: “During a routine patrol in different parts of the city, we arrested about 13 officers who were indecently dressed.
This is a part of the continuous campaign by command officers to end indecent attire.
“And the head of the divisions where these arrested officers are serving will be vicariously liable for the personnels’ conduct.â€
He promised that the passing of SP Bako would not go unnoticed.
In December, a suspected Icelandic cult led by Gift Okpara, also known as 2Baba in the Odiemude community of Ahoada East LGA, kidnapped Bako and severed his head.
Disu expressed his gratitude to the public for their outpouring of concern over the DPO's murder, and he mentioned that he was in negotiations with Ahoada stakeholders to apprehend the main suspect.
On his objective for the command, Disu said: “As police, we cannot succeed without cooperation, and partnership from members of the public. I have started fostering partnerships between the Police and members of the public.
“I had meetings twice with the traffic section of the police to remind them that they must be civil in their dealings with members of the public. I want to work with members of the public so they can trust us and give us information.â€
