Rivers police arrest cops who assaulted man in viral video
The Nigeria Police Force has verified that the three officers who were shown in a viral video punching an unnamed guy have been located and detained.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force's public relations officer, announced this on his Twitter account in response to a post about the assault on Monday night.
The tweep has posted a viral video shared on showing the moment a police officer was beating and slapping a man in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with the caption, “A family man being assaulted in front of his wife by police, this is sad @policeNg.â€
Adejobi quoted and replied to the tweet saying, “These men have been arrested, and their commander will personally bring them to the Force Headquarters tomorrow Tuesday for further actions.
“They are three in number, attached to RRS, Rivers State.
“Their action does not portray the police in a good light at all,†he added.
The Force PRO, in contrast, had already criticized the policeman's behaviour and called it unfortunate.
He stressed, “I have asked the Rivers State Command to fish them out.
“This is unpolice, unethical, and condemned.
“Whatever the man must have done, he doesn’t deserve this beating.
“Beating him like a baby?? A grown-up man? We will surely get the men.â€
