Robbers threaten Oyo community, sends warning letter
Panic has gripped the Ifelagba Community in Oyo State after the community received a threat letter from armed robbers.
According to reports, the letter, which was written in Yoruba, was sent to the neighbourhood on Friday night. Ifelagba is situated in Oyo State's Ido Local Government Area.
The robbers warned the locals to get ready for their money and possessions to be taken from them and declared that they were prepared to defeat the vigilantes in the region who had made robbery operations tough for them.
Translated to English, the letter reads in part, “We’re coming to collect our rights and money in your houses.
“We will use all our power and all our strength to fight the vigilantes because of all their wicked acts and how they have stopped us all these years.
“We are armed robbers and we will confess everything to you this month. Be prepared.â€
At the time this report was filed, attempts to contact the Oyo State Police Command for comment were unsuccessful because Adewale Osifeso, the state force spokesperson, did not return calls or texts.
