Russian bombs, ballistic missile kill at least 6, injure 30 in Ukraine
According to reports, at least six civilians were killed and over thirty others were injured when Russian glide bombs, drones, and a ballistic missile crashed into cities in southern and eastern Ukraine on Monday.
According to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia has recently stepped up its strikes that have long plagued civilian areas in an apparent attempt to frighten Ukrainians and reduce their resolve to continue a conflict that is getting close to its 1,000-day mark.
“Every day, every night, Russia commits the same terror,” Zelenskyy said in a post on the Telegram messaging app. “Except that an increasing number of civilian objects are becoming targets.”
When Donald Trump becomes president of the United States in January, Russia and Ukraine are both watching to see how Washington will alter its war strategy.
Trump has criticised the Biden administration for providing Kyiv with tens of billions of dollars in aid, despite the fact that the United States is Ukraine's largest military donor.
Zelenskyy stated on Telegram that the Ukrainian army plans to increase the number of its mobile troops, which are mostly responsible for shooting down drones, in the areas that Russian strikes target the most.
He added that as part of a local missile program, Ukraine is developing its own glide bombs. Russian glide bombs have substantially altered the battlefield, as their devastating potency reduces communities to ruins and makes it increasingly difficult for Ukrainian forces to hold their defensive defences.
