Samuel Eto'o confesses he wanted Cameroon to lose
Samuel Eto'o, president of FECAFOOT, has acknowledged that he wanted Cameroon to lose to Uzbekistan on Friday in the international friendly.
The Indomitable Lions suffered a 2-0 loss to a side that FIFA has ranked 39 places higher than them.
In Goyang, South Korea, the goals were scored by Oybek Bozorov and Oston Urunov.
But Eto'o has underlined that the five-time African champions are still trying to make it to the World Cup final in 2022.
"We really wanted to see the reaction of the team, and for the first time — I hoped for Cameroon to lose.
“Our objective is still the same; to depart Qatar on the evening of December 18, the date of the World Cup final.
“We won’t lose sight of our objective,†Eto’o told CRTV.
