Sanwo-Olu hosts Oba of Benin Ewuare II in Lagos
The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday at the Lagos House, Marina.
The governor said that the visit was evidence of the "commitment to cultural harmony and collaboration: between Lagos and Edo States," referring to the monarch as a "king among kings."
Sanwo-Olu tweeted in a statement titled "Oba ghato kpere ise," expressing his happiness on his page on X, formerly Twitter.
The governor stated, “Honoured to host His Royal Majesty, Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II of Benin, a king among kings this beautiful Sunday at Lagos House, Marina.
“The visit by The Oba of Benin reaffirms our commitment to cultural harmony and collaboration between Lagos and Edo. Grateful for the opportunity to strengthen bonds and celebrate our shared heritage.
“As part of the activities to welcome and honour His Royal Majesty, Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II of Benin, I took him on a tour of the J Randle Center for Arts & Culture showcasing the rich Yoruba heritage.â€
“The cultural centre has an outdoor theatre, public square, space for learning programmes, art installations, live music events, a permanent exhibition, library, training and conference rooms, and a concession block for refreshment lounges, bleacher stand, lawn area, and a world-class swimming pool.
