School principal arrested for allegedly inflicting injuries on female student
A secondary school principal in Lagos' Igando neighbourhood has been taken into custody by the police on charges of flogging a female pupil and causing injuries to her body.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Command, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that the principal was taken into custody by the Igando Police Division on Friday.
According to Hundeyin, the Lagos State Ministry of Education has also become involved in the matter in an effort to have the principal looked into and, should they be found guilty, prosecuted.
An internet video had appeared online, purportedly depicting a female student who had been flogged and had markings all over her body.
