Senate confirms nomination of Oloworaran as PENCOM DG
Omolola Oloworaran's nomination as the National Pension Commission's director-general was approved by the Senate on Thursday. In a letter to the Senate, President Bola Tinubu asked for approval of the candidate.
After considering and adopting the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service report during plenary, the Senate passed its resolution.
The committee noted that the nominee satisfied the legal requirements outlined in sections 19 (2), (5), (6), and 26 of the Pension Reform Act 2014 (Act No. 4) for appointment to the position of Director-General of the National Pension Commission, according to Committee Chairman Senator Cyril Fasuyi, a member of the All Progressives Congress representing the Ekiti North Senatorial District.
He continued by saying that the committee had proven the nominee was "a qualified, fit, and proper person suitable for appointment as Director-General of the National Pension Commission" and that this determination was supported by both law and reality.
When Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who chaired plenary, put the committee's recommendation to a voice vote, the parliamentarians accepted Oloworaran's nomination for the position of PENCOM DG.
