Shettima celebrates Akesan Day in Ogun
Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently in attendance at the Iperu community in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun for the 37th Annual Akesan Day Celebration 2023.
The Iperu Development Association (IDA) is in charge of organising the event, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, the governors of Kwara and Kogi states, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, and other important officials from the federal and state governments welcomed the vice president upon his arrival.
The legendary creator of Iperu, a historic town in Ogun, Southwest Nigeria, is Akesan.
According to oral history, Akesan was the daughter of an Alaafin who, in the 13th or 14th century, moved from Ile Ife to finally settle in Iperu with her husband Ajagbe.
