Shettima departs Nigeria to represent President Tinubu at 3rd BRI forum in China
To represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a diplomatic mission in China and the United States to entice investors to the country, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has left Nigeria.
According to a press release given to journalists by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President for Media and Communications, the Vice President will take part in two important international conferences.
Shettima is set to travel to Beijing, China today to take part in the third Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Forum, which will take place from October 16 to October 18 of 2023.
The prestigious gathering will convene leaders from over 130 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Their mission: is to discuss and deliberate upon the theme, “High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity.â€
The vice president is anticipated to use this international stage while at the BRI Forum to draw investors for a number of Nigerian development initiatives.
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), championed by Chinese President Xi Jinping as a strategy for the development of global infrastructure, will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2023.
The People's Republic of China's government launched an initiative in 2013 with the goal of increasing global cooperation and expanding infrastructure investments.
Through both land and sea routes, this initiative connects nearly 70 nations in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Nigeria's then-President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Belt and Road cooperation pact with China in 2018.
