Soldiers rescue kidnapped victims in Sokoto
According to the Defence Headquarters, soldiers from Operation Hadrin Daji have freed a woman who was kidnapped in Sokoto State's Gada Local Government Area and sixteen Almajiris.
According to The PUNCH, on March 9, 2024, a group of terrorists broke into the LGA and abducted the victims.
In a statement released by the DHQ on Saturday, Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, Director of Media Operations, stated that the troops collaborated with local law enforcement and government organisations to guarantee the hostages' release.
He mentioned that the Sokoto state authorities had received the rescued victims.
“On 21 March 2024, the military, working with local authorities and government agencies across the country, in a coordinated search and rescue operation rescued these hostages.
“The rescued hostages have been handed over to the Sokoto State Government for further action. ”
Edward, however, claimed the military has enhanced its resources to find and rescue kidnapped people in the country.
