South African comedian, Trevor Noah, set to leave American TV show
Seven years after taking over "The Daily Show" from Jon Stewart, South African comedian and television broadcaster Trevor Noah has announced his retirement from the show.
At the conclusion of his broadcast on Thursday night, Noah announced his departure and stated that he will be spending more time performing stand-up comedy.
Noah said, "My time is up," before thanking his audience and his coworkers.
“I’ve loved hosting this show, it’s been one of my greatest challenges and one of my greatest joys.â€
The Primetime Emmy award was one of many accolades gained by the comedian, political commentator, and TV host, 38, who took over the show from Jon Stewart in 2015.
He was listed by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018 and one of the 35 most influential persons in New York's media in 2017.
